Home School Soccer League, Inc. is a non-profit, parent-run cooperative that works to provide home-educated students ages 3 thru high school the opportunity to participate in non-competitive soccer.
General Soccer Information
The Home School Soccer League, Inc (HSSL) is a non-profit, non-competitive cooperative that meets on Thursdays ONLY. We will continue to meet at The Riverside Athletic Complex at 610 Druw Cameron Drive, Woodstock, GA 30188 in Cherokee County, GA. Our teams scrimmage within their age groupings. We do not have any other games or practices.
Early Registrations are currently being accepted for the Spring 2017 Season; please see form for mailing address. However, you have the option of registering during ON-FIELD registration, which will be held on Thursday, February 2nd, 2017 from 1:15-2:45 at the Riverside Athletic Complex. We do not accept any registrations for the coming season after On-Field registration.
Fees cover mandatory player insurance, coaching costs, field permit fees, etc, as well as pizza on the last day (weather permitting.) Our uniform consists of a gray HSSL T-shirt, which is available for an additional cost. Please note that there can be absolutely NO refunds after the first week, since insurance costs and fees will already have been paid.
Players will be given a card on the first day which must be surrendered to their coach before they will be permitted to join a team. If desired, parents may move their child up or down one YEAR (not one team). This means that an eight-year-old who is nearly nine can join the 9-10 Team instead of the 7-8 Team, but a seven-year-old who is nearly eight would stay on the 7-8 team.
As HSSL is “parent-run”, you are STRONGLY encouraged to volunteer, and will receive a discount if you choose to do so. We greatly appreciate our wonderful volunteers, (i.e., we love you folks!), who work so hard for all of us during the season.
We try to provide a minimum of 6 weeks of play by scheduling 8 sessions and ONE rain makeup date. Typically, we do manage to provide 8 weeks, but cannot control the weather. If we must cancel a session due to storms or lightning, or if the Park closes the fields due to weather, etc. we will contact you by Calling Post (usually before noon.) We will then hold a soccer session on the optional make-up date.
Playing times for the Spring 2017 season are as follows:
Team Start Time End Time__ 3 - 4 year-olds 1:15 2:30 5 year olds 1:15 Varies (2:30 - 3:00) 6 year-olds and up 1:00 3:00
A parent MUST be present with their 3 or 4 year olds, unless coaching for Home School Soccer, due to the child's bathroom needs and short attention span.
In order to play, your child(ren) will need to bring the following items with them each week:
A Soccer Ball—Please check to make sure it is inflated properly and labeled with their name . There will be a pump at the HSSL desk should you need to use it.
A Water Bottle—This is essential, especially during the hottest days of the season. Please make sure they have PLENTY of water and that your child's water container is clearly labeled with their name.
Sandals, flip-flops or other shoes that leave the toes exposed are NOT PERMITTED and will prevent your child from playing that day. Cleats are not needed.
Shin Guards are REQUIRED for ages 5 and above. If your child forgets their shin guards, they can check at the HSSL table to see if we have any to borrow, HOWEVER if we have loaned them all out, your child will not be able to play that day. This is to protect your child from injury and for insurance purposes. PLEASE return any borrowed equipment back to us at the end of the day.
Proper sports eye wear for children who wear glasses is STRONGLY suggested!
We celebrate the kids' hard work each season with a fun day of free pizza at the final session - weather permitting.
Also, please remember that this is NOT a drop-off activity. One parent must remain at the fields for the full session, regardless of the child's age. Additionally, parents of 3-4 year olds should plan to stay with that child's team. If you have children on multiple teams, please note on your Registration Form which field you will be at. Coaches must know where you will be in case they need to contact you about your child for some reason.
For safety reasons, parents should escort their children to their fields. Coaches will bring the players to the HSSL table for popsicles after playing each week, and parents can pick them up there.
Please be sure to obey all Riverside Athletic Complex Rules! Disregarding the rules could jeopardize our permission to use the park and we reserve the right to expel (without refund) any family that refuses to follow these rules. As always, supervise your children at all times! We want EVERYONE to be able to have a safe and fun time!!
