Home School Soccer League Inc.

at Noonday Creek Park, Cobb County, GA

General Soccer Information

The Home School Soccer League, Inc (HSSL) is a non-profit, non-competitive cooperative that meets on Thursdays ONLY at Noonday Creek Park. Our teams scrimmage within their age groupings. We do not have any other games or practices.

Registration is by MAIL. You may also register at the field on the Thursday prior to the first day, and also on the last day of each season.
We will NOT be accepting registrations on the first day of play.  Fees cover mandatory player insurance, coaching costs, etc.  Pizza and awards are provided on the last day weather permitting.  The required uniform T-shirts are available for an additional cost. (There can be absolutely NO refunds after the first week, since insurance and awards will already have been ordered.)  Players will be given a card on the first day which MUST be surrendered to their coach before they can join a team.

As HSSL is “parent-run”, you are STRONGLY encouraged to volunteer, and will receive a discount if you choose to do so.  We greatly appreciate our wonderful volunteers, (i.e., we love you folks!), who work so hard for all of us before and during the season.

We try to provide a minimum of 6 weeks of play by scheduling 8 sessions and ONE rain makeup date.  Typically, we do manage to provide 8 weeks, but cannot control the weather.  If we must cancel a session due to storms or lightening, or if Noonday Park closes the fields due to weather, etc. we will contact you by Calling Post (usually before noon.)  We will then hold a soccer session on the optional make-up date.

Tentative Playing times for the FALL 2009 season are as follows:
            Team                                       Start Time                  End Time
            3 - 5 year-olds                          1:15                             2:30
            6 year-olds and up                   1:00                             3:00

PLEASE NOTE: The 3 and 4 yr old teams are "Mommy/Daddy and me" teams. A parent MUST be present when your 3 or 4 year old is playing.

In order to play, your child(ren) will need to bring the following items with them each week:

A Soccer Ball—Please check to make sure it is inflated properly. There will also be a pump at the HSSL desk should you need to use it.

A Water Bottle—This is essential, especially during the hottest days of the season.  Please make sure they have PLENTY of water and that your child's water container is clearly labeled with their name.

Sandals, flip-flops or other shoes that leave the toes exposed are NOT PERMITTED and will prevent your child from playing that day.  Shin Guards are also REQUIRED for ages 5 and above. If your child forgets their shin guards, they can check at the HSSL table to see if we have any to borrow, HOWEVER if we have loaned them all out, your child will not be able to play that day.  This is to protect your child from injury and for insurance purposes.  PLEASE return any borrowed items back to us at the end of the day.

Proper sports eyewear for children who wear glasses is STRONGLY suggested!

We celebrate the kids' hard work each season with a fun day of free pizza and awards at the final session - weather permitting.

Also, please remember that this is NOT a drop-off activity.  Parents of 3-4 year olds MUST stay with their child's team.  If you have children on multiple teams, please note on your Registration Form which field you will be at.  (We suggest staying with your youngest child, as they are the one most likely to need 'bathroom breaks'.) Coaches and assistant coaches also must know where you will be in case they need to contact you about your child for some reason.

For safety reasons, parents should escort their children to the field.  Coaches will bring the players to the HSSL table for popsicles after playing each week, and parents can pick them up there.

PER NOONDAY PARK RULES, your children MUST STAY OUT of the creek (due to snakes sunning themselves) as well as the trees on the hill (bees, yellow jackets and poison ivy.)  PLEASE, supervise your children at all times. We want EVERYONE to have a safe and fun time!!
